Please mark your top two choices for both the morning and afternoon sessions.  Please note that workshop arrangements will be made based on your preference, workshop availability and school participation.

Morning Session (Mark your first and second choice)

____ Eco Tourism, Costa Rica & Journey South: Can we Travel Responsibly? The good news and the bad news. Eco-tourism is arguably the fastest growing sector of travel for North Americans and this has both positive and negative implications for pristine nature around the planet. Identifying the difference between travel that benefits both nature and people and that which does not, is difficult. For those who wish to travel responsibly, 'Buyer Beware'. Explore Eco tourism in the Costa Rican eco village Durika with Journey South

____Simple Steps to Sustainable Living: Join Peterborough Green-Up for a hands on, and often quite humorous workshop, tips for reducing environmental impact, while helping to save money. Aimed at youth who are gaining independence from home, the workshop focuses on reducing energy and water consumption in apartments, "green" purchasing, waste reduction, and other tricks for ensuring sustainability and stretching a household budget.

___ Technology and the Environment: Power to the People! Using Renewable Energy. Learn the process of building a windmill to power an eco centre with Jason Wamboldt.

____ Food 101: Join the Seasoned Spoon for this primer on food and explore the world of organic, genetically modified, locally sourced foods and so much more!

Afternoon Session (Mark your first and second choice)

____ Music and Puppet for Environmental Education: Learn how to use music and puppets to convey your environmental message to friends and foes with the Paddling Puppeteers!

____Publishing the Moment: Use zine-making to let your voice be heard. Break down the barriers of the mainstream media through independent self-publishing. In this workshop, OPIRG will help you create your own instant zines to share with friends and family.

____ Putting Jets in Your Junker - Join the Bike Works gang for a basic bicycle maintenance tour.

____Supermarket Tour Workshop: Using the supermarket as a classroom, OPIRG's Supermarket Tour asks questions about the products on supermarket shelves, from labour to labeling, from marketing to genetic manipulation, from pesticides to profit. What's really on your supermarket shelves?

Local businesses will be catering vegetarian snacks and lunch. Unfortunately, we cannot take responsibility for food allergies so we suggest that youth with peanut allergies pack a lunch from home. The Market Hall is an accessible space. Please let us know if you require the use of the elevator, or require any other assistance so we can make arrangements before the event.
