![]() Early Earth Day 2007 Educational Extravaganza! The goal of Early Earth Day is to provide easy ways for members of the Peterborough community to have a positive impact on our environment. Because environmental problems can often feel overwhelming, we hope to make environmental education both as fun AND as practical as possible. This year’s focus is on energy conservation and water issues. All events are free of charge, and appropriate for adults and youth alike. In addition to the displays, local environmental vendors and samples from the Seasoned Spoon Café and Farmers Market will also be present at the Peterborough Public Library. SCHEDULE: 10:00 am Environmental Tours of the Trent campus begin in the Kawartha World Issues Centre (ESC B101) at Trent University (tours start at 10:00, 11:00, and 12:00). Tour destinations include the Nature Areas, Seasoned Spoon Café, rooftop gardens, and more – find out how Trent shapes up environmentally. 10:00 am Tabling begins in front of Bata Library (until 4:00 pm). Stop by for some local treats and student-specific environmental tips. See how much carbon goes into your food! 12:00 pm Doors open in Peterborough Public Library Auditorium for tabling, displays (food energy, home energy efficiency, green shopping, and more), and World Water Day film screenings (until 5:00 pm) 12:00 pm WORKSHOP: “How to Use Popular Education in Environmental Activism” with Erin Krekoski, Ben Laurie, and Brendan Bailey in the Peterborough Public Library Boardroom (until 3:00 pm – click for description) 1:00 pm CONTEST: Campus cleanup contest outside Otonabee College at Trent University – win great prizes! 3:00 pm WORKSHOP: Pad- and bag-making workshop with Joelle Levesque from The Free Market in the Peterborough Public Library Boardroom (until 5:00 pm – click for description) 7:00 pm FILM: Free screening of “Who Killed the Electric Car?” (click for description) in the Sadleir House Dining Hall (751 George St N), followed by a presentation on transportation issues in Peterborough Early Earth Day 2007 has been organized by the Kawartha World Issues Centre, the Trent Environmental Students Society, the Trent Central Students Association, the Ontario Public Interest Research Group, Sustainable Trent, the Seasoned Spoon Café, the Council of Canadians, and Peterborough Green-Up.
