We would like to invite you to our upcoming multi-generational community forum. This forum will bring together 80-120 local politicians, community leaders, academics, educators and students living and working in Peterborough County, including Curve Lake and Hiawatha First Nations, for an evening presentation and a day of education, networking and opportunity to begin a process of identifying local priorities as we prepare for Alliance 2030. Registration is limited.
An evening reception will be held on Thursday February 28th, 2019 to launch the OCIC Transformations photo- journalism exhibit featuring the stories of several local change-makers. On Mar 1st, we will gather to understand the context for the development of UN Sustainable Development Goals and why they are important, Canada`s commitment and to learn from each other how local community initiatives connect to the SDGS and being identifying priorities for Peterborough county.
The UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, featuring the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), was unanimously adopted by world leaders at a historic UN summit in September 2015. By aligning national priorities with the 2030 Agenda and working together with the private sector and civil society, governments have started to mobilize efforts to end poverty, address inequalities and tackle climate change by 2030.
Communities across Canada are engaging in conversation and action on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Kawartha World Issues Centre invites you to help us bring the Peterborough area into this important conversation.
Registration and program details will be available in early January. We hope you will join us!
