'Power of Words' International Development Week Workshop

IDW Workshop poster.jpg

This workshop works to open dialogues and start conversations surrounding critical issues in the areas of International Development and Global Citizenship and advocacy. Using creative techniques we explore such topics as how the Social Media can be used as a tool to both help and hinder our engagement with the world around us, and how we, as students of life, can use our words as vehicles for change and growth. Through the medium of creative writing, poetry and spoken word, we explore how our personal narratives can frame the ways in which we can engage with social justice issues around the globe, making and mending local and global connections.

Reteaching gender & sexuality! Building solidarity across borders and binaries

a youth workshop

With growing mainstream headlines reporting on the tragic deaths of many queer youth, reteaching gender & sexuality provides an unique call to action. What if instead of blaming individual "bullies", we focus on dismantling a culture that promotes violence and isolation? Members of this innovative, intergenerational group - Reteaching Gender and Sexuality - bring fresh perspectives that shift the conversation toward visibility, intersecting identities, liberating spaces, institutional accountability, and building solidarity across borders and binaries.
